There are many reasons why I love goals. They can help you accomplish something, they can help you gauge how much you’ve changed, and they can help you to improve certain areas of your life. Not to mention, the act of making a goal is something you can do anywhere. At the park, at a friends house, or at home. So, as you’ve probably guessed it, this post is all about making goals, and sticking to them.

Why Make a Goal?
When I’ve heard of making goals in the past, that’s always seemed like such a daunting idea. You have to come up with some thing to do over a certain amount of time, that will possibly change something in you or your life. That doesn’t exactly sound like a fun Friday night to me.
But after much experimentation with goals, goal setting, or the making of goals, I figure something out. If we don’t make goals, routine becomes our enemy, and time, it’s domain. Goals keep us sane when the world seems to turn and stay the same with no hope of change. So, why make goals? In short, to keep things interesting.
The making, of a Goal
We all have certain areas in life we’d like to improve on or even change entirely. Whether its something like learning a new language, or simply being more organized at adulting. Goals are something that keep us going through the bad times, and give us something interesting to do in the good times.
So, when trying to make a goal, I think about something I want to do, improve on, or learn. Literally, anything. Some of the goals that I’ve set, are trying to learn French, and becoming a better cook. And like I said before, it doesn’t matter if its an enormous goal that will take years to complete, or if its just something small that can be finished in a couple of weeks. A goal is a goal and no matter the size, it demands to be completed.
Your Goal and Time
Say, you have a goal now. This idea is in your head and you want to complete it with your best work. But there are a few more things to consider. One of them, is the amount of time this goal is going to take to be completed.
Now this is a very important step to having a goal and completing it. If you don’t allow enough time for your goal to be complete, you can easily get overwhelmed with it, and give up. Don’t. Be honest with yourself about how much time you can really give to this goal. By being balanced with how much time you spend on this goal, you will be able to complete it in a timely fashion without killing yourself or giving up entirely.
Setting up a Plan
If you have a goal without a plan, its just an idea. You need a plan if you are going to stick to this, and finish with your best work.
So now that you know how much time you are going to spend on this goal, write it in a plan. Make the time frame known, and define what steps you are going to take during this time. Be as detailed as you can be, because later on, you will know exactly where you’re going and you won’t be able to use the excuse that you don’t know what to do next. If needed, do research on the best ways to accomplish your goal as well.
Following through
Now time for some work. Real, honest work, to complete your goal. Pick a time during the day, and as often as you can, work on your goal. Make it part of your personal routine to work on this goal, and complete it. Use motivational posters. Make reminder notifications. Do what you have to, to finish your goal.
Another suggestion, is to make a goal with a friend. If you find motivating yourself as easy as pushing a boulder uphill, you’re not alone. But pushing that boulder somehow becomes a lot easier when you have someone cheering you on or even pushing it with you. So if this is a difficult goal, ask a friend for help. Or if you have a hard time getting motivated, find someone to work on your goal with you.
That’s It!
Never underestimate the power of a goal. It can push you to do many amazing things that you never thought you could. It can lead to new adventures and experiences, and, it makes life just a little more interesting.

Love it. I guess you did learn a thing or two in school. Lol Good job.
I find your blog very motivating and I am not a teenager. Well an old one maybe… sort of , anyway love your writing ,Lourd blog.
I liked the idea, “if you have a goal without a plan, it’s just an idea”. My biggest problem though, is follow through and maybe it’s because my plan isn’t specific enough. So I’m rethinking that concept. I enjoyed your blog very much, my suggestion to you would be check spelling before you post. You know me, I’m a stickler for spelling and grammar. Lol. Keep it up, you’re doing a good job.
A great goal is to keep a journal and write something every day. I have been doing so for 35 years and still have those journals. I can look at specific days from years past and relive an old memory or read about something I don’t ever remember doing. Plus, it keeps you writing every day
Keep up the good work.
