As I write this post, I am in the process of learning Spanish. I decided I wanted to learn Spanish for two main reasons. One, I live in an area where native Spanish speakers are common, and two, I though it would be a really useful skill. Not to mention I might be able to impress a few people with my mad talking skills. Learning Spanish can be difficult though, when you don’t have any budget, or any resources. So, now that I’ve been at the Spanish game for a while, I thought I’d share my top four FREE resources, for learning this awesome language.

Learning Spanish With Memrise
Memrise was the first free Spanish source I ever tried and I was pleasantly surprised. In this post, I talk about when I learned ASL, and while I was on my ASL journey, I found Memrise. This site has so many options for languages (including Klingon), but I was really impressed when I found out, not only do they have Spain Spanish, they also have Mexico Spanish! I didn’t realize there was such a difference until I started learning Spanish, and when I kept running into the wrong Spanish, it was super confusing to figure out which one I was using. But Memerise makes it clear that they have two different types of Spanish available.
Memrise has a website you can find here. I am not affiliated with them, but I love how they’re using native speakers to create more courses so that the most accurate lessons are available. They also have an app you can use, with premium options available.
Learning Spanish With Pinterest
Now, to some, this one may seem obvious, but it took a few months for me to really figure this one out. If you create a board for Spanish, then use the new sections option, you can create sections to hold all of the different grammar, vocabulary, and helpful notes you find.
Not to mention, you can now look for pins in Spanish too! The pins that I look at are memes, text conversations, or even recipes. By being on Pinterest like this, you can get a sense of the culture, as well as practice the language.
Butterfly Spanish
I found Butterfly Spanish a few months ago on YouTube, and began watching her fun, informational videos. Honestly, I didn’t think I would love them as much as I do. She has such a fun personality that will keep you engaged throughout the entire video, and you don’t even realize you’re learning a new language at the same time!
She has a website you can find by clicking here, and she has an email subscription that I love! Both her videos and news letter are highly informative, and because she is a native speaker, you know you’re learning proper Spanish. It’s like having a Spanish buddy without actually talking to someone! Introverts, am I right? Here is a link to her YouTube Videos as well.
StudySpanish.com
I’m not an affiliate of StudySpanish.com, but I’m in love! This site has both a free and premium version available, and is an amazing asset. Using the other sites I mentioned, you’ll have to do a bit more digging. You’ll follow your own plan of learning and try to fill in the gaps when you get stuck in a conversation and find out what you’re missing. I recommend this site however, because it offers everything!
You can choose from their grammar section, vocabulary section, pronunciation section, or their verb section. Allowing you to choose what you want to learn, while still giving you guidelines to help you on your learning path. I’ve just started using this site, and I can already tell I’m learning, and retaining the information. Most of their resources are written out, but they also have a podcast on the site, and they give you exercises to help any kind of learner. Click here to check out their site.
