The soft embrace of your covers has captured you. You’re now in a trance as your mind wanders to a place of wonder and adventure. Then, the morning’s alarm begins blaring, pulling you from your dreams into the harsh reality that is bed hair and bad breath. Mornings are annoying to say the least. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve begged for just five more minutes. But why does it have to be this way? I asked this question a while ago, and now, I’ve been able to compile a list of tips that have helped me fulfill my morning routine.

Set Out The Mornings Schedule
Lets start with schedules! One of my favorite things. They’re so easy to make, and one of the most customizable things I know of! Your schedule can be anything from an hour to hour schedule, or just a little “to do” list. But having a clear view of what needs to get done in the day can help motivate you to get moving.
I’ve used multiple different schedules on multiple different platforms. But my favorite still remains, the “to do” list. I have it set out in the middle of the room where I’m sure to look at it. Then, when I wake up in the morning, I automatically look at it for my daily inspiration! If you want some help or inspiration creating a to do list of your own, click here to read my post about just that.
Set Your Clothes Out The Night Before
Next on the docket, setting your clothes out the night before. No, this isn’t just a thing you do when you’re really excited about your trip the next day. When you set your clothes out the night before, you’re giving yourself that much of a head start! The outfit is there. No need to dig through the closet or the dirty clothes hamper at 6 in the morning.
I especially appreciate this trick, because it takes away the biggest excuse for me to stay in bed. The excuse that I’m just going to fight with my closet so why bother. When I set my clothes out, I’m ready to go when the morning comes, and it’s a no brainer to just throw the clothes on and get to it!
Get The Alarm Away From You
It’s all too easy to roll over and hit that snooze button. Then the next thing you know, you’re late for work. Why don’t we avoid this altogether? Plug your phone in, or set your alarm somewhere away from your bed. This way, when the morning comes and your sheets hold you to the bed, you’ll have to get up to stop that annoying sound. Then, oh, you’re out of bed? Might as well start the day!
This was one of the first morning tips I started trying. It’s particularly easy for me to put my phone somewhere else because I have a loft bed. That also means, when my alarm goes off, I have to get out of bed to shut it off. There’s no amount of just stretching a little farther to end the annoying buzzing. I physically have to climb down a ladder, and stop the alarm.
Give Yourself Something To Look Forward To In The Mornings
No one wants to get out of bed when they know they’re just going to be bombarded with chores and expectations. So why not start your day with something you love? If exercise is your thing, hop out of bed and get moving. If food is your thing, make yourself a bomb breakfast! Or, if TV shows are your thing, tell yourself, if you get out of bed right now, you can watch the next episode or two.
Honestly, that last one was my greatest motivation when I was little. My mom and I would wake up hours before I was supposed to start school, just to watch MacGyver or Knight` Rider. Then of course I’d sit as quiet as possible to see how many episodes I could get away with before she told me to get to my schoolwork. But the point is, mornings became something I got excited about thanks to this motivation my mom discovered.
That’s It!
All in all, yes, I still think mornings suck. However, I’m hating them a little less every day thanks to these tricks. You basically end up tricking yourself to like mornings! So don’t hit that snooze, don’t roll over and sleep for five more minutes. Go out there and win at mornings!

I dunno kid. I still don’t think I’ll like mornings. Lol. Good writing as usual. Awesome tips too. Maybe I should get a loft bed…….
The loft bed is awesome, so long as you’re not afraid of heights….. or small spaces. Lol.
Boy, your mom must be pretty smart. Lol
Enjoyed your post, like your ideas. Keep up the good work.
